My Mom was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in August of 2011 and she gained her angel wings on March 25, 2013 at the age of 51. I miss her every single day. She was my best friend, cheerleader and had the biggest heart of anyone I ever knew. She fought with everything she had. She also wanted to make sure she was not just a "statistic" and I am telling her story to encourage others and to let people know they are not alone.
Most people do not know that lung cancer is the deadliest cancer yet receives the least research funding of all cancers. A big reason for that is the stigma that only smoking causes lung cancer and that is a "deserved" disease. My Mom felt the stigma as she was a smoker, and I still feel it over 6 years later. I am on a mission to educate people that NO ONE deserves lung cancer. Over 433 people a day die from this horrible disease. Please support me by walking in my Mom's Memory or by making a donation. Any amount is much appreciated!
This year, for the first time ever, two of the leading lung cancer organizations have joined forces to create one of the largest run/walk events for lung cancer in Texas…because together we are stronger.
Join the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park.
Don’t miss this day of family fun as we walk/run together to raise awareness and funds in our fight against lung cancer. #LungLoveCure19 #BeatLungCancerKristy
